Whatsapp and lynchings!

Should whatsapp be held accountable for lynchings? Over the last three months the nation has witnessed lynching of many individuals, all who have been wrongly projected as a child-lifters to the people over there. In all these cases it was Whatsapp-a social messaging app which acted as a medium in circulating this bogus and fallacious news around the village. But is it right to hold whatsapp accountable for the naivety of people? No! Consider the Assam lynching case- A man after getting to know that his fiend is visiting a village nearby, served up his intention of killing the person by just sending an image of that person with a tag of Child lifter, to a member of that village. Soon the message proliferated across the village and suddenly everyone was aware about the person. So, when that person entered the village, the people immediately pounced on him and killed without giving a sense of thought or chance for that person to present his case. What do you observe in this ...

No-confidence-motion!

Stage is set for Lok Sabha to witness no-confidence motion against BJP on Friday. But is it going to be a tough fight for BJP? or will it be a cake walk. It is not first time that there are requests of no-confidence motion against BJP in Lok Sabha. But all those requests were quashed by the then speaker as there was no adequate majority to succour the request.( A minimum of 50 members should render support initially). After 4 years of its ruling in the centre, the BJP is now facing a no-confidence-motion after the speaker Sushmita Mahajan accepted the request of the Vijayawada TDP MP. But numbers suggest that BJP has nothing to fear. Out of 534 votes (11 seats are currently vacant), BJP govt needs to garner 267 votes to overthrow this motion. BJP with 274 members is confident of toppling the motion as there is also support from many other prominent parties. Then why is this no-confidence-motion raised by the oppostion parties in the first place? One obvious reason could be to ...

News!

Sorrow in Ambulance: A 2-month-old ailing baby was declared dead after a jammed ambulance door left the baby and his parents trapped inside for 20 minutes. The baby’s father claims that the baby had died because of suffocation but the doctors refused it saying that the baby’s vital organs were already by-large damaged. The truth can never be known as the baby was cremated without an autopsy. Trump-Putin summit: There is a veneer of calmness and bonhomie in the meeting of Trump and his Russian counterpart. But Mr. Trump is facing flak from the congress for not confronting Mr.Putin on meddling in US elections-2015, severely enough. India will be closely looking at how this meeting shapes up as there is a chance to avoid the sanctions from US(regarding purchase of Russian missiles),  if the US-Russia ties grow strong. Arjun Tendulkar: Arjun- a left arm seamer and alrounder has picked up his first wicket in his international foray in the ongo...

IT sector on the move!

IT sector in India is rejuvenating. Many companies like Tata Consultancy service(TCS) and infosys has registered a growth rate of 15% and 12% respectively. But it will be wrong to assume that the jobs which had taken a dip in the last 2 years, will  increase proportionately. Rewind five years and you can see a boomimg IT industry at its heyday, where the companies had witnessed huge growth rates and profits. It also helped to alleviate the perennial unemployment problem that exists in India. An average of 2.4 lakh jobs were offered every year in this sector from Finacial Year (FY) 2011-15. But this numbers took a dip in the FY 2016 with only 1.7 lakh job hirings. It further dwindled to 1 lakh in the year 2017 exacerbating the situation further. This sudden plunge over the years is because of its failure to adapt to the rapidly evolving technology. Many people predicted the situation to grow further worse, but the present scenario proves it wrong. One shoul...

Apex court!

The 44 day summer break (May 19 - July 2) of the Supreme court of India has concluded. The apex court of India now heads into what could be a tumultous session as there are a slew of important and high profile cases that are to be adjudged. Some of them are : Ayodhya dispute; practice of polygamy by Muslims; Issues regarding Aadhar and National Register of Citizens in Assam. It had already dealt with the lingering problem of the feud between the government of Delhi and Lieutanant Governor this week. Delhi CM has been an ardent supporter of full statehood to Delhi and was always found  grappling with the Lieutant Governor and the centre. Delhi’s LG had for some time, been accused of interfering with the matters concerning to state government in Delhi. Supreme court in an epic judgement gave a hint of breath to the Arvind Kejriwal govt as it stifled the power of LG, and explicitly stated the ruling party will have the  final say and that the LG should abstain from encroac...

New Update!

Whatsapp has rolled out a new global update tweaking group settings and worked on a way to curb pervasive spread of false messages. In the wake of recent spate of lynchings, government of India reprimanded whatsapp,  asked to take accountability and to find a way to nip this menace. There is also growing furore across the world to identify and restrict the spread of bogus news across social platforms escpescially Facebook. It looks like Facebook has started taking this seriously as its daughter company Whatsapp (owned by Facebook) released its new version this Monday. What are the changes that whatsapp made in this new version. Lets look at them. Forward tag: Whenever there is a fowarded message sent to you, you can now see a forward tag on top of that message. How does it help? This helps in inculcating some thought into the user’s mind before accepting it as true. This can help allay the lynching problem in India to an extent, a...

They then saw the Tham Lunac Non cave and made up their mind to explore it. They left their bags at the entrance of cave and carried nothing but only a torch into what they thought was an expedition. Little did they know that the place was going to be their abode for the next 2 weeks. The forecast was right but to their surprise, there was incessant rainfall and heavy downpour inundated large parts of the cave. There was nothing the Wild Boars could do and were left stranded.. Battle of supremacy!

Clinical victory! Ind vs Eng t20 series lived upto it’s bargain and delivered a riveting contest. There was hard hitting, clean drives and never give up attitude on display from both the sides, throughout the series. India clinched the series, thanks to a stupendous century from Rohit Sharma and an all round performance from Hardik Pandya, in the series decider. While Rohit have registered another record in the annals of cricket, equaling Colin Munro’s record of most centuries in t20 internationals, Hardik had registered his career best figures. Put into bat by Virat kohli, England openers gave a blistering start  scoring 100 in 9 overs. With no kuldeep in the side, the Indian bowlers struggled to stifle or take wickets on what is a batting paradise. Debutant Siddarth Kaul drew the first blood, taking the wicket of in-form Jos Butler. With Roy falling prey to another debutant Deepak Chahar, England batting floundered as the middle order did no...

Gambling conundrum in India!

Should gambling be legalised in India? Yes:  Gambling is ubiquitous in India. May it be online or offline gambling, it has been rampant over the years and almost reached to an unstoppable state. The laws pertaining to gambling are vested with states and thus vary from state to state. Despite gambling being illegal in most parts of India, there are many online and offline services offering gambling that the common man could easily lay his hand into. Government tried to curb these services, but largely failed. Since, it is now clear that cessation of this menace is almost next to impossible, it is better if we atleast regulate it. As the Law Commission of India rightly proposed to legalise gambling with a few guidelines and limitations, like the gambler must and should attest or upload his pan card copy and the restrictions on number of gamblings he can do in a week. It also proposed to introduce a regulatory body to overlook on the modus operandi of these gambling centrers.Th...

Elections-2k19

Countdown begins! There is less than one year  before we head into , what could be a tumultous  elections. Each and every party is gearing up for the elections and devising ideas, modalities, speeches and plans to outdo the other parties. This  is going to be a litmus test for both Congress and NDA. Its been a while, the former party suffered a debacle and are raring to go and redeem their pride. As for the latter, which is heavily reliant on the aura of Narendra Modi, this should be the perfect platform for them to show their supremacy and zip the lips of  the opposition party leaders. Lately Regional parties have become a huge factor in deciding the power at the centre, as we can see the power drama that transpired in the karnataka. So it is important to form the alliances and have their backs. In the run up to the elections we will find both the parties intensely slandering each other, trying to tarnish the images of one another, but the  Narendra Modi led B...

FIFA WORLD CUP- 2018

This has been one of the pulsating world cup ever, as there are many decisive goals being scored in the injury time , thus not giving opportunity for the victim to bounce back. The big teams are floundering and unable to stamp their hegemony despite having illustrious names in their ranks. The way the small teams are posing a challenge and making the big teams run for their money, has certainly raised the bar for football world cup , thanks to the increasing significance of the clubs which helps the players in burnishing their talent . We are just a day into the knockouts and the teams of the big guns christiano and messi have departed from the world cup. One has to feel sorry for them as they deserve much more for what they have done to the football world. As for the present , the world cup competition is livelier than ever and every team is eager and waiting to pounce on the cup. Brazil might be the favourites as of now , but it will come as no surprise if some underdogs snatch the ...

Zero Tolerance!

Over the last few weeks you might have encountered a plethora of articles, pertaining to Mr.Donald Trump’s ambitious zero tolerance approach towards undocumented migrants. Many children were forcibly estranged from their families and sent to detention centers. One cannot help, but feel sorrow after listening to an audio, purportedly of a wailing child in one of those centers, making rounds on the social media. Since then, there has  been growing resentment among the people and many politicians in the US condemned this policy, calling it “cruel” and  “horrendous”. So, what exactly is this policy? And why is Mr.Trump  so dogmatic about it? Lets get a quick lowdown on it. Immigration policy in US is not anew. It is put in place to curtail the undocumented immigrants, primarily from the porous Mexican border. While the former presidents Mr.Bush and Mr.Obama were lax about it, adopting a “catch and release” approach, the reigning president Mr.Trump is adopting a zero toleran...
